home Sweet Home

Ahh! It is good to be home, right? I love to go places but find great comfort in getting home. The dog races around, family members greet me with welcome and I get to sleep in my own bed! Jesus tells us in John 14:23 "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."   Having God in our homes brings his love into our relationships and his presence brings peace and love.  Need him in your home? Ask Him to make himself known to you and to come in and live with you.  You and your family willbe blessed!

Best Friends

Do you have a best friend? I hope you do. My best friend moved away several years ago and I cherish any time we can get together. What makes a best friend? Proverbs 17:17a says, "A friend loves at all times,".  This is a person who will stand with you in good times as well as bad and really loves you. A person you can tell your biggest dreams, your craziest desires and your deepest sorrows.  James reminds us that Abraham was called a friend of God and that God's righteous was credited to him. (James 2:23). Do you love God and know him as your friend? Do you love the things he loves?
As much as I love my best friend, that love and friendship pales in comparison to my love and friendship with God. He promises to be with me 24/7, comfort, guide, protect, and save me. What a wonder. I hope you can enjoy the company of your earthly best friend soon and remember it is but a tiny fraction of a friendship with Almighty God.
Have a great day! Linda

Remembering Our Presidents

Happy President's Day!  When you think of George Washington do you remember the funny stories of his wooden teeth, chopping down the cherry tree or do you think of his sacrifices for a young nation? Are you thankful for the strength of character our founding father's had and their faithful endurance? They showed great purpose and determination.
Do you know the purpose for which God created you?
In Psalm 86:12 David wrote:  I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;  I will glorify your name forever.
In Romans 15:5-6 Paul wrote: May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How about you? Will you be one who is remembered as a person who praises and honors God? It is never to late to change your history. Begin today praising and honoring God. You too can leave a lasting memory for all eternity.

True Love

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!
1John 4:8 tells us that God is love. God's loves is abiding, infinate, long suffering, patient, and kind. All the qualities we desire in love are found in Almighty God as he created love. In my singleness I am learning to rely on God's love more and more. His love fills my soul and balances me. I found a tender image of God's love in Deuteronomy 33:12. Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.
God 's love protects and shelters me tenderly close to him in a place that is protected by him. I never need to doubt God's love and care for me.
I pray you will be shown love today and if you want more, ask God to show you his love today.

Today I felt like Hezekiah in 2Kings 19:14-19 who received a letter of an impending attack calling for him to surrender. Hezekiah presented it to the Lord and asked him to deliver them.  Yesterday my internet was inaccessible and my computer quit. I took it in for repair and thought what am I to do about my commitment to blogging? So I wrote my concerns and fears in my prayer journal this morning and sumitted them to God.  Later it occured to me that I could use my Nook.
1Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (NIV).  God is indeed loving in that he even cares about my internet. I love it when the Holy Spirit sends me ideas and smooths my way.
Hope you have a blessed day and that you'll remember he cares about all the things in our lives both big and small.

Day by Day

I was really excited to have my first blog posted and was planning to write at least 2 times a week. My plans this first week did not work out and I wondered why?   I seemed to have little time to think and write.  Satan is overjoyed that I let my daily busyness get in my way of writing my thoughts about God's faithfulness.  This is another lesson to me that I need to see His faithfulness to me day by day!  When we look for God each day, he will be found and as we praise Him we will receive His blessings.   Psalm 145:1-3
I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.
Everyday I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

2 Corinthians 4:16 says:  So we do not lose heart.  Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.  (ESV)

No matter how things seem to look each day, I need to keep my focus on God and seek to be renewed by Him each day.   I hope you have a great week, and I will try to follow my own advice- keeping focus and seeking that daily renewal through reading His word and prayer.
Blessings, Linda

God's Faithfulness

Beginning February 4, 2014  God's Faithfulness

As I was praying about how to begin this blog, the Lord showed me that Living Fearlessly is about His faithfulness.  Here is a scripture about God's faithfulness-

"Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land.  For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."  Genesis 28:15 (ESV)

Jacob  had God's assurance that he would be with him on his journey, stay with him and bring him home again.  Jesus gives us this same assurance-

"And behold.  I am with you always, to the end of the age."   Matthew 28:20b  (ESV)

So why do I have such trouble believing Jesus is always with me and that God is indeed faithful?  The key to living fearlessly lies in accepting and truly believing that God is who he says he is and will do what he says he will do.  We so easily accept things that we can see, hear and touch.  Things dealing with eternity are seen in God's word, can be evidenced in creation and touched in our hearts.

I pray that you will be open to God's words, looking for God's work in creation and touched by his spirit today in your heart of hearts.
Here is a favorite picture of God's creation to enjoy as you meditate on God's faithfulness.
