“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:56-58
I love the Lenten season as it gives me time to reflect on Jesus and what He did for me at the cross. Without Jesus, I would be looking toward eternal separation from God and judgment for my sins. Through Christ, I can have life, hope and a purpose. These words of Paul remind us that through Christ we are able to stand firm in our faith. We need to stay focused on God so that our faith does not waver or move. Committing ourselves to God’s work will bring joy, hope, peace and a work that always produces fruit. God promises to remember our work for Him and reward us. “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10 Rely upon the justice of God and his promises as you strive to work for Him. I love Paul’s reminder in Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving!” Are you trying to stand firm in faith on your own? Are you trying to do good works with little success? Call upon Jesus and rely on God’s promised results as you work to produce good fruits in His name. To God be the Glory, Great things He has done!!
Relying upon the grace and strength of Jesus,
