Looking to God's Word

Psalm 19: 7-11   The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.  The statues of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.  The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.  The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.  The ordinances of the LORD are sure and all together righteous.  They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.  By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

I love this psalm as David describes God’s word and its value.  Look at the names he gives for God’s word:  law, statues, precepts, commands and ordinances.  He describes the word itself as: perfect, trustworthy, right, radiant, eternal, sure and righteous, more precious than gold and sweeter than honey.   God also describes the work of His word in our lives as it: revives the soul, makes wise things simple, give joy to the heart, gives light to our eyes, righteousness in our life and keeping them brings great reward.  How  do you feel about God’s word?  Is it more precious to you than gold (money), your career, your entertainment or your possessions? God designed His word to be active and living in our lives.  Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates eve to dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.   Will you allow God’s precious word to work in you heart and mind today?
